![]() Unfortunately, this window doesn't open. The cabinets aren't as old as the house, we think, but they're original at least to when this room was used as a kitchen. When we first moved in, Sean saw a chipmunk in the kitchen, which promptly dashed into the corner beneath the sink. |
![]() That bookshelf is a built-in. Cool. |
![]() This is a washer and dryer. Click here for the Story of the Appliances (but look at the photos of the fridge and stove before you read the whole thing). |
![]() Before we moved in, Tom took photos of the house; this is one of them. See that cool big table on the left? It's solid wood. See that guy on the right? That's Bob. He made the table himself. We really wanted to use it in the house, but he said, "That table used to be part of my machine shop---I've used lots of chemicals on it---if the EPA thought it was in a kitchen..." so we put it in the mudroom. |
![]() Here are our new fridge and stove. Their story... |
![]() It's worth looking at the larger picture just to see the detail on the handle. |
![]() Things to notice: the top shelf has a basket in it. The partial shelf second from the bottom has hinges, so it can flip up to make room for taller items. Just beneath the freezer is the word HUMIDERATOR. The bin is labeled HANDI-BIN. |
![]() One gets to the freezer by pulling the lid forward; it hinges out-and-down. This is the freezer. Note the ice-cube-tray shelf! (The left cubes are stars, and the right cubes are arrows. They came from IKEA.) And yes, that's catnip in the freezer. Daddy got it for us from eBay, and the seller recommended keeping it frozen until needed. |
![]() The shelves seem shallower than they really are. |
![]() The shelves say SERVI-SHELF... and see that butter container? |
![]() The butter-tray door lifts up into the fridge door. |
![]() This is the stove. It has cool knobs. |
![]() It also has a nearly unused oven. |
![]() There's lots and lots of space in the kitchen, even though some of it is blocked by the oven. |
![]() See? Even more cabinet and counter space! The counters and cabinets are solid wood. |
![]() Yes, that is in fact a copper liner around the sink. There's also a light just above the sink in case one wishes to wash dishes at night. |
